OK let's say I have a solenoid powered by an undetermined power supply (I don't bother measuring the polarity). And a solenoid requires a freewheel diode but the diode's polarity should be adapted to the polarity, which I don't want to care about. Naturally, a diode bridge comes to mind but will that work as a freewheel diode ? Apparently yes according to CircuiJS :-)

And now that I see the currents and voltages, it becomes obvious that it would work. The good thing is that the EMF back-kick power is shared among the 4 diodes and the drop is doubled, meaning faster dissipation and less stress/more reliability for the diodes. How nice !
