Being a new resident of a German part of Switzerland coming from the French part I was a little sad that there's not a community-sponsored Makerspace that actively supported by the community or subsidized by the Canton especially when we have problems with e waste and a lack of stem focused extracurricular activities. While we would want to make YouTube Creator videos in the Makerspace others would be welcome to do so as well as community members and we would offer classes on safety on how to use the various machines in our space as well as at cost or close to at cost passives and other materials like filament and or other raw materials whether they be wood metal or fabric.
The goal the goal is to make an affordable community supported nonprofit area where people can learn and do so in a safe environment with people who are interested in sharing their knowledge with both young and older people as well as artists and other creative.
I approached one individual here who has something kind of like that set up but when I mentioned that it was not for profit he almost laughed me off the telephone I guess that's Switzerland or just this person.
We have a high degree of creativity and productivity in the area of electronics and Cutting Edge Technologies and in order to retain that level we need to appeal to the new generation and also introduce these things to people who want to learn them who are of any age.
With the world changing as fast as it is I think a lot of people are interested in learning how to become proficient in basic coding, the use of microcontrollers and fpgas as well as creating new ideas and new things with all these additive prototyping technologies that have become quite affordable at least at the community LEVEL.
