So let's try powder coating a blank PCB using laser printer toner as the powder. Then we put the PCB in the cheapo laser engraver. Adjust power to just melt the toner. Theoretically fine detail should be possible, plus more control over toner thickness & hopefully avoid the little spots that need a touch up with sharpie before etching.
