06/02/2014 at 16:39 • 0 commentsThe repository for information on the BuckyBot ( www.ranarchy.org ) is up and running. Still crude, mind you, and with little content, but we will be adding content every weekend as we clean it up.

Accelerometers for Spyder and Head
05/21/2014 at 15:27 • 3 commentsgot accelerators for the chassis (Spyder) module and Extruder (Head) module. Using MMA7361's from Freescale to develop the software. Still don't think I need gyros ... There should be no need to make an INS ... just position relative to some monument position. The 7361 is no longer manufactured, but I'll update the design when I can no longer get cheap boards based on it ($3.33 on ebay).

Makers Wanted!
05/07/2014 at 20:15 • 0 commentsMay 7, 2014:
To enable rapid progress, I may need some volunteers to make a few printed parts for the 6DOF actuators that control the position of the extruder head. Basically, it's a planetary gear system driven by a NEMA 8 stepper that "worm gears" a 5x1 mm threaded rod - thus creating a linear actuator. Note: dimensions are liable to change on my whim ... usually driven by "aw sh...ts" during attempted assembly. Will know more by next week.

Web Site for Documentation

I am setting up a web site to contain the documentation of the design and build. Check back here later for the IP address...
Also, stealing parts at grabCAD and TraceParts to make SolidWorks assembly. The design WILL be available on open source tools, but none of the opensource CAD programs are as versatile as SolidWorks. Therefore, I will translate parts and assemblies from SoldWorks to FreeCAD and/or BRLCAD,
