I am a straight A student, but I’m really bad at keeping my time and studying according to the schedule. So I wanted a big display along with some optical coolness in it. The first thing that came into my mind was the window in ironman, the one that is electrochromic and can display weather, schedule, etc. I wanted to make a gigantic DIY LCD, but it seemed impossible. This turned my view into LED matrixes. They are easy to use, and can be made pretty easily. I did not want to obstruct my view of my wall as my room is not that big, and I wanted it to be flexible as well as not all walls are flat. Using condensed silver nanoparticles suspended in Elmer's glue, I think I would be able to make transparent, or at least translucent ink that can be drawn onto a surface.
So my design incorporates OCR technology to detect my things to do list, upload them to google calendar, send my tablet notifications, and also vibrate and display what to do on my led matrix bracelet/watch.
Sodium borohydride and silver nitrate has arrived from the order I sent last week. Made some silver nanoparticle colloids. Actually they were surprisingly simple, compared to gold nanoparticles. Started experimenting different PVA glue with different concentrations. Haven't seen any good results though. Maybe I should try using bigger particles.
