Along the line of computer vision, you may want to get in contact with MrBreadWater over on github. He is working on a "Project Kronos" that is using machine lerni g to evaluate successful and failed prints. https://github.com/MrBreadWater/project-Kronos-data-collector Not a lot of public info, but seems like it could be of some use to you.
