Studio quality microphones are super-sensitive. I've sung professionally so I know how reduce my plosives when I sing on a stage mic like a Sure SM58, but studio mics are vastly more sensitive and you can't stop your plosives no matter how hard you try (when you see a video of pop stars making a recording they're invariably singing thru pop screens). Save the money you'd spend on a pop screen and put it toward a shock mount.
