Ping3D is a new type of table tennis paddle that extends normal gameplay and actively aids the player with realtime statistics, coaching and more! The purpose is to create a product or kit that can easily be replicated by makers.
In this first release, I have been testing 3 different print setups for materials compatibility in real environment play. The latest version (seen in the photos) is nearing completion.
A second phase will consist of electronics and calibration of sensors. All sensors are aimed to fit inside the enclosure and add minimal weight to the current design.
This next phase will begin once the materials used match gameplay expectations.
The final phase will be a digital representation of all data points from sensors, realtime analytics (i.e. orientation, habits, player associated), visual calibration, user help and others. I will be using the data connection from ping3D to feed a mobile app, which should be quite simple to use and setup.
