These were machined in a similar way to the Y-axis sleds. Starting with a 1/4" aluminium plate, it was faced down to 5mm and then the screw holes were milled out.
Then it was profiled, leaving support tabs (and correct speeds/feeds this time!). It was apparent that I need to hook up the flood coolant system soon.
Then it was just a matter of cutting off the tabs with the bandsaw and cleaning them up on the belt sander again.
Done!
