Pretty much wanted to push my engineering limits on this project. I developed a frame in Alibre 2012 along with the suspesion, roll cage, and body. The body was made from 16g galvanized steal on a homemade 8ft break. The engine was pulled from an 04 gt mustang that didn't have keys and after some rewiring and reprogramming, now accepts an aftermarket security key. The transmission was converted from that mustang to accept a transfer case simply by replacing the output spud with the f150 equivalent. After picking up a chassis engineering book, the coil overshocks were selected from FOAShocks who actually sell springs by the spring rates!
I've also taken the skills learned from another project to put in a wood bed, with polished aluminum dividers. Comfort and safety were a bit of a concern in the seating area, so new seat belts and seats were added to me and the other occupants from flying out of the truck.
So the War Weasel has been operational, for the most part, for a few years now and has made it out to a few car shows and halloween events. There are still a few things to finish up like the dash and the tailgate. It's held up pretty well for general off roading shenanigans, but sadly, it hasn't fit the role of a daily driver. The War Weasel currently gets started about once a month and charged up before being left to sit in the garage again. The big issue now: do I complete it myself, or do I try to find someone who will have more fun finishing it the way they want to?
