Household biogas plant

A device that optimizes the biological process of anaerobic digestion for household food scraps

A ten gallon container - insulated, heated and automated - can turn your household food scraps into biogas that can be used for cooking. Simply add your food waste each day, and let it do it's magic. It will also produce an organic fertilizer that will send your garden plants into hyper-growth mode.

Most anaerobic digester designs out there on the internet can only work in tropical climates. And even then, their ideal operating temperature is a stable 35 degrees C; countries like India can see average daily temperature fluctuations between 25-35 degrees C, and colder in the winter.

With this design, the temperature is held constant using arduino controlled heating elements and insulation, so that the maximum gas is produced. A buffer solution is also added, so that less water is needed, and the reaction can take place at a higher density of food scraps, requiring a smaller vessel than most digesters.
