The idea behind this project is to use a rubidium atomic frequency standard and a silicon labs clock generator to directly drive the clock input for a microcontroller, replacing the crystal.
With this approach the code can be guaranteed to run synchronously with the atomic frequency standard, perfect for applications where the inherent variability of a standard crystal oscillator is unacceptable.
The microcontroller in question will drive an Arduino compatible nixie tube clock.
All design details will be made available - My goal is 100% open source and open hardware.
