Here are some notes for this low mass, high strength magnetic ball joint:
I ended up with these components:
-Countersunk super-magnets (opposite magnetic polarization direction)
-Small center magnet
-Cut-off magnetic steel screw head
Bringing them together into a high-force magnetic structure:
High strength longitudinally oriented carbon fiber tubes - Honed to accept magnet stacks.
Cleaned and epoxied in place. Digital calipers used to ensure equal spacing:
Finished push rods (with ball bearings attached):
