Met up for 4th Group Discussion.
- Lots of head-scratching and contemplative silences; we feel like we've got something there with our ideas, and we're getting somewhere, we just need a little bit of time, and a little bit of brain juice.
- We managed to make some changes to Idea #5 by combining it with the marine concept of one of the original ideas, Idea #1. Ideas #2 and #4 still needed work, so we agreed to continue the discussion later in the evening once everyone was done with their schedule commitments.
Group Discussion continued on the group Hackaday messaging room.
- New concept of poverty storytelling brought in for Idea #2, thanks to an earlier tête-à-tête with another group leader (hello, good morning). Further details of potential execution discussed among the group.
- In the interest of time, the remaining Idea #4 ended up being our Frankenstein; pieced together last minute with the leftover bits and bobs of our dried out intellects.
In preparation for Internal Pitch 2 scheduled for Thursday, 7th June:
- Created pitch deck.
- Updated idea content.
- Updated 3 idea sketches digitally to insert into pitch deck.
Thursday, 07/06/2018
Delivered Internal Pitch 2 to project lecturers.
Room reaction felt a little better than the lukewarm toast of olde.
Updated Idea #1 and updated Idea #3 were shortlisted for client pitch.
Some feedback and suggestions from our lecturers included:
- Updated Idea #1 would benefit more from a 'room'-style setup than a plain podium setting; consider ways to make every detail of the experience physical, natural, and interactive - dynamically. Wink. Also, further consider smaller details of execution i.e. audio, message display, etc.
- Updated Idea #3 needed some further thinking into what we would use to display the underwater scene, as well as some thought into the craft details of the setup (materials and tech).
- tl;dr: We're not Ip Man, but that's ok. We'll settle for being Will Smith's kid, pre-Jackie Chan mentorship.
Set date for group discussion:
- 5th Group Discussion scheduled for Friday, 8th June.
Friday, 08/06/2018
Met up for 5th Group Discussion, an exhausting but productive powwow.
- Sorted out setup and execution details for Updated Idea #1 and Updated Idea #3, which will now be referred to as 'Beyond The Garden Wall' (BTGW) and 'Under The Sea' (UTS), respectively.
Saturday, 09/06/2018
In preparation for Client Pitch 1, scheduled for Monday, 11th June:
- Created pitch deck skeleton.
- UTS homework: compile art style references for sea creature visuals; compile list of plastic/waste as well as list of sea creatures to morph together.
- BTGW homework: compile picture references of impoverished houses; compile fact sheet to back up the ‘story’ for interactable items.
Sunday, 09/06/2018
Continuation of Client Pitch 1 preparation:
