I have been dreaming of improving this product for some time. It would benefit from being able to control the circulation pump so that it does not run 24/7. It also times out after a week or so being on. If we were able to reprogram the unit to control these functions and send data to the internet for remote monitoring it would be a huge improvement. I have scoured around to find some people trying to do similar things that are much smarter that I am: http://www.thebmwz3.co.uk/2018/04/lay-z-spa-hottub-controller.htmlAnd this person seems to have started a project but its scope is more narrow: https://hackaday.io/project/1728-hot-tub-remoteSo I thought I would try to collectively work to gather all the available information on those that ha
Ok, so I have torn down the lay-z-spa control unit and all the other items in the egg shaped pod. My controller fried and seems to just buzz/flash really fast. Not sure if there is a way to reset the electronics but it seems pretty fired. I took everything apart to see if I could isolate the issue with no success. I noticed that all the components seem to be fairly straight forward and could be easily controlled with an Arduino. I am going to plan out the build from here this way. Any input would be appreciated.
