There is a SDK for Raspberry pi if you are brave enough to go that route, for version one of this project I will stick with the well ironed out x86 version of ez builder. this helps you build code and collaborate with others to integrate modules that other members can help you build as well. I recommend it for anyone starting in robotics or automation of any kind. EZ Builder is free, if you want to interface sensors or servers ect then you can get started for as little as $25 for EZ IOtiny board as a data interface either through WIFI , or USB TTL interface.
https://www.ez-robot.com/EZ-Builder/ , download link, completely free, regular updates and improvements both from the core developer and other users as well.
