Description

Introducing: the LAYZOR
LAYZOR is a budget friendly rebuild of the popular Chinese K40 laser cutter that is so ubiquitous on eBay.

While the K40 is – value-for-money – not a bad deal, there’s obviously tons of room for improvement. Being very limited in working area, user convenience and safety features, the usual upgrades still felt lacking to me, so I bit the bullet and imagined a complete rebuild. Re-using as many stock parts as possible while upgrading the ones that did need replacing. I settled on a generous 600 x 400 mm size for the working area, and worked out my additional project goals from there. All while keeping the total conversion cost down to an absolute minimum.
