How many of you were introduced to the electronic badge at DefCon 14? I wish I would have been there, but I was not. However, when looking back at DefCon official badges, this is by far, one of my favorite. It also signifies a pivotal point in hardware hacking. The advent of the hackable badge.

This project is meant to capture the essence of the badge hacking in the early days, and encourage more people to participate.

The first milestone for this project will be an entry level hackable badge. I want to provide everything needed to plug it into a computer and program it using easily available tools. The initial thought is making it arduino compatible using an ATTiny to flash different patterns in the eyes.  Ideally this would arrive looking and functioning very much like the original DC14 Human badge.
