Features:
• footprint: SDC6k_1: MC68000 DIL64 socket, SDC68k_2: 4 x 2.5 cm
• hardware monitor with single-stepping, disassembly, memory editing and drag-and-drop HEX file loading
• 256/512 KiB RAM, 64 KiB ISP Flash
• terminal (console) interface with interrupt capability
• timer with interrupt
• diskette emulation in Flash memory for CP/M-68k support
• on-off or PWM-controlled RGB LED
• user button
• Power supply, h/w monitor communication and target computer terminal via USB double VCOM device
• whole computer logic other than the CPU implemented in STM32L496 or L4R5 microcontroller

Software needed on PC side: a terminal emulator program (TeraTerm 4.101 or newer is recommended).

SDC68k_2: The new version with MC68SEC000.

SDC68k_1: The PCB has the size of DIL64 socket. The only non-trivial component is an STM32 micro, serving as memory, peripherals and glue logic for M68k CPU. It also provides full hardware monitoring - memory editing, .HEX file loading and single-stepping/breakpointing on bus cycle or instruction basis.

  • 1 × MC68000 or MC68010
  • 1 × STM32L496

  • New SDC68k_2 + monitor enhancements

SDC68k_2 now achieving speeds equivalent to 2.5 MHz 0WS. Monitor firmware was modified to use color text

  • Some speedup

    gbm02/15/2019 at 22:14 0 comments

After some firmware tuning, the MC68k running at 5 MHz achieves the speed equivalent to 1.58 MHz 0WS.

  • First runs

Firmware operation verified. Need to add some basic MMU functionality for demoing access error handling. The performance is not astonishing - about 300 k bus transfer per second.

So a 68000 on one side and an STM32 on the other to take care of housekeeping? Wow!
