I've had this piece of Redwood for about 33 years. It is a rare piece of what's called Heartwood. It's blond with the most amazing grain. It used to be part of a bed frame I made, but scrapped about 10 years ago. I've been saving it for something worthy. I've decided it would make a nice case for my pool cue.
