• Easy Open Tesla coil on PCB

Thanks to PCBway I received new board, I am excited to test it.

And winner is BUL45D2G ;) 3-4mm sparks with single coil ... I try order more from BUL family ...

It is very hard to manufacture this big coil, It is challenge for all pcb manufacturers.

There is lot of very thin and close tracks on big space.

PCBWay took on the risk of production for this boards and accepted this challenge,
and manufacture this boards for my FREE.

I try before stacking two boards but without success, now with this new power transistor
I am near to killing sparks :) Also I have ordered some new HF transistors

This transistor is no specially selected, just only one on my desk in TO3 package

• 25V
• red LED
• I can make sparks with tube, no spontaneous sparks alone

At first I burn almost all transistor after power on, then I test lower voltage than 36V like for previously tested BD243.

FZT851 at 12V without LED:

• no heating
• 0.2W consumption
• 0,017A
• tube glow 1-2cm above board
• no visible sparks
• when you touch board, current go transistor deathly values

FZT851 at 12V with red LED:

• no heating
• 0.2W consumption
• 0,2A
• tube glow 3cm above board, 
• visible sparks if I scratch with tube wires over board
• when you touch board, current go transistor deathly values

RESULT:

Subjective I think, I have almost same results with FZT851 at 12V like BD243 at 36V

FZT851 is SMD in SOT223 package, is more sensitive and is harder for cooling.

You can see some neon glow on 5-6V.
