IoT Wireless Mesh Networked Nodes to gain Real-time Insights into Structural Health Monitoring of structures. Basically the nodes will consolidate their data and push them into a secure cloud storage. Analysts would then be able to view real-time insights and also get notifications and alerts for preset thresholds. It is a very important system that will save lives if there is a major hidden defect in any structure housing precious lives of humans. The IoT Structural Health Nodes targets any structural element but I will be focusing on critical steel and concrete structures (bridges, tunnels, buildings, ...). However, it can be further used in monitoring elements in air planes, cars and bikes. I will be building on my experience from the Strain Indicator Project: https://hackaday.io/project/5173-strain-indicator-v20
So glad I could eventually get this project going.
I am currently looking into the self-power design and options available, most likely would go with an ambient RF chip that would either charge a super capacitor or a small battery. I am open to other options as they come up during my research.
I am also working on the smallest footprint possible for the enclosure and the PCB.
I will keep this project updated as I proceed and hopefully I would be able to make it before the HackADay Prize closes, however, I am determined to move forward anyway =)
