I'm following this project for a while and often check for new logs. This one is excellent. For my final project I will create my own robotic arm prototype using similar components,also 3d print them, use arduino as controlor...etc, and this will be good base for it. Keep pushing!

An other thing you may want to add (in the future) is a calibration mechanism. I am building my version but since I have issues with my printer my robot dimensions will be slightly different.

Keyboard shortcuts! Never forget about keyboard shortcuts!
You could program the numeric keyboard 0..9 for different views. And maybe you could use Alt 0.. Alt 9 and Ctrl 0.. Ctrl 9 for movement.
