Old 3,5" HDD

Controller board from the hard disk itself.

On/Off switch

Reverse rotation switch.

HDD original four plates with 600, 800, 1000 and 2000 grit sandpaper, changeable and sandpaper replaceable when needed.

Runs on external 12Vdc 3A power supply.

Birch plywood box with Vieux-chêne and Shellac finish.

Do you find that the speed is too fast? Seems like between that and the low thermal mass of the platters you'd have problems with heat control and maintaining temper on the tool.

Hello.

The 7200 Rpm are perfect.

Never had any problems with nothing at all.

The ones in this pictures are made better looking in wooden boxes, etc... but i have one that i use regularly to sharpen my precision cutting tools and it's a hard working horse for many years!
Only a 7.200Rpm HDD drive powered by bench top PSU 12Vdc plus +5V regulated from 7805 attached to the drive.

The 7805 is on the beginning of the power cable, not on the drive as i wrote before. Sorry did this a few years ago and didn't remember properly.
