After mowing the lawn and bringing the green waste to the timber yard and found that old printer. As I recently had learned how to work with PSoC microcontrollers I had the idea to reuse this thing and make it an arcade machine. Luckily I also had been able to make an University project out of it which brought me some support of fellow students.
I disassembled the whole thing but reused all the motors and stuff to move the new internals. I also found an old Joystick on that timber yard which should be my new input device. The only new hardware I bought is the LCD, the MP3 Player and some FETs.
The basic idea is that you have a phototransistor which is moved over a white cylinder, you can control the speed and the position using the joystick. You use whiteboard markers to print your track.
