BADGE RUNNER

Description

After seeing the great #badgelife projects coming out of Defcon, I was inspired to learn how to create my own. The idea to create a Blade Runner themed badge stemmed from the fact that Supercon was taking place outside of LA in Nov. 2019; the time and place the original Blade Runner is set. I hope other cyberpunk enthusiasts will enjoy this badge.

The layering of the board was created in Inkscape and exported using svg2shenzhen. We used Kicad to construct the schematics and organizing the board components.

This badge consists of a ESP12 operating 9 neopixels, 8 in the front and 1 that is soldered reversed to backlit the owl's cybernetic eye. To make things interesting, the 8 neopixels flash a secret message. Badge is powered by a rechargeable lipo battery and can be charged by micro-usb. Each ear has a header to display a nice SAO.

Multiple badges were created to sell at Supercon. The remaining will be put up on Tindie following the conference.

This project is opensource and all the code and files needed to build your own Badgerunner is located on Github. For creating your own or hacking the badge, you will need to make a programmer to upload you code to the badge.

Did you have any issues with dimensions changing going from Inkscape to KiCad? All my holes are coming out small and finding it hard fining any support for svg2shenzhen.
