The latest workup estimates that the total material cost of one OpenFluidWarmer unit is just under $80 USD!
The five most expensive components being:
- heaters -> 29%
- stainless steel trays -> 14%
- electronics enclosure -> 12%
- adhesive backed foam -> 9%
- polystyrene foam -> 8%
As all items get accounted for and the prototype design is further refined, a small (<$10 USD) material cost increase is expected. Another cost increase (currently of unknown size) is expected when the design is updated to include all safety features.
