Here are the dumps of messages from 1o57 in the liner notes:

There is a possibility that the lower case L that I used in these is actually an upper case I.
Update: @Lord Kiba has found one solution for this:
What's up people!
I believe I solved the transcribed text from cassette case it's a keyed Vigenere Cipher
Key is : "NOMATTERWHEREYOUGOTHEREYOUARE"
Decoded text is as follows "Know that as in life there is much that many have looked upon but few have seen because as my father told me and his father told him you will come to learn a great deal if you study the insignificant in depth "

the XX is used here as padding of the message to complete the 4 character chunks that were commonly used when writing cipher text then the last bit is just 1o57 signing his work :)
Key : NOMATTERWHEREYOUGOTHEREYOUARE
Text : Know that as in life there is much that many have looked upon but few have seen because as my father told me and his father told him you will come to learn a great deal if you study the insignificant in depth
Both are references to The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension with the text being a direct quote from the DVD special feature called Pinky Caruthers Unknown Facts. The Quote is also attributed to the Greek poet Odysseas Elytis.

The shift is sometimes referred to as the "XX". And also sometimes in morse code, the "XX" is the amount of characters between words. I'm wondering if the "alXX 1o57" piece of this is meant to be information, rather than something to be deciphered.
