Finally getting some time to work on this more. I have been busy. I am looking to source the "face plate" covers for the inside of the case. I was going to print them but my MKrBot can only span about half of the length of the inside dimensions of the case. I believe I will mockup the face plates in thin wood to position and figure out mounting. Then once done can find a CNC machine to cut the final.
On with the build so I am using as the main brain a Asus Zenbook 2017. For ease (and because I have a lot of Win Forensics tools) It is running Win10 May 2020 Update is that it includes the Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL 2). The flat screen for inside the case runs off just the usb-c on the Zenbook and seems good on power consumption.
I am still loading vm's into the new VMware Workstation 16 (darkmode default FTW). I will soon have the kids flashing the SD cards for the Raspberry Pi's :) . I am debating the pros and cons of putting a small passive hub (no/low power) to link all the components with an OS/ni to be a mini network.
and a short video.
