After some use of my children (not too young and already experienced with the use of tiny electric connections) the accursed micro USB socket of our tablets could not be used anymore with every cable for charging. It was necessary to put the tablet on a flat surface to guarantee that the connector made proper contact.
So I decided that I needed to provide some protection to the connection to prevent the tablets from an early death.
I took my calipers, measured a bit and designed something in OpenSCAD. Rather simple but with parameters for different sized connectors and tablets/phones.
I printed it in PLA with lots of support structures because when printing it in an orientation where no supports were necessary it was structurally unstable.
It works as intended and charging is no problem anymore.
