those waterproof pads of paper are cool and all, but not when you're the one paying the water bill. this will be faster.

My enclosure arrived and is definitely big enough for the application. I also bought a MP3/MIDI/WAV/OGG play + record module with an SD card slot from adafruit. Hopefully the only other thing I need is a microphone, an SD card, and a speaker or an audio jack so I can play the files back without removing the SD card. Oh wait, the module comes with an audio jack.
My buddy at OKW Enclosures is sending me a waterproof version of their newest product, the slim case. https://www.okwenclosures.com/en/Plastic-enclosures/Slim-Case.htm

Bonus: I get to pretend I'm the Sham-wow guy in the shim-sham-shower.
This thing is waterproof and has a microphone for all those calls you take in the shower. Maybe I could hack it into a recorder.

:-) Is a waterproof solution the only option? If you have a rigid shower screen, maybe you could clamp a mic against the outside of that and use it as a pickup? Or would a phone on a shelf somewhere else in the bathroom be sensitive enough? Totally understand if this is an excuse to rabbit hole with some hacking though!
It's mostly about hacking something together! But I should use a phone or something in the meantime. Maybe I'll try using my little digital voice recorder.
@kristina panos I keep thinking of the Teensy audio library and shield, although the website says it still can't currently continuously record to SD https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/td_libs_AudioRoadmap.html. Not sure how big a SPI flash chip you would need for what you are planning to record, in lieu of an SD card.
Shame you can't keep all your notes to a total of ten seconds, otherwise this is right up your street https://www.dfrobot.com/product-1507.html
That is cool. I once waterproofed a piezo in Plasti-Dip. I wonder if it would pick up my voice well enough in competition with the shower.

@Simon Merrett Hmm, yes, I suppose the piezo would have to be rather close. Whatever I end up with, it doesn't have to sound great, just good enough to transcribe. Maybe I could strap the whole apparatus over my mouth and around my head, or make a face mask from a shower cap and only cover my mouth.
