Someone actually replaced the backlight on a panel.  He considered the same LED strips but went for 9 prefab LED panels for a total of $756.  Obviously another totally ridiculous job done purely for the adsense.

Most crap these days seems to be only available on aliexpress.com rather than amazon.com or digikey.com. Amazon.com is pivoting away from selling crap & towards services.

The whole affair of making a backlight bright enough for outdoor use reminded lions of the adventures of Mitsubishi Diamondvision in the 80's.  Creating CRTs bright enough for outdoor use was the great task.  The stadium displays were forced air cooled. Active cooling for home confusers in those days didn't exist & there were some attempts at water cooling rear projection TV's.  Diamondvision & early rear projection TV's are blacked out areas of history.
