Richard HogbenI reversed the direction of the fan I installed to blow over the Pi rather than draw from it. So far has been over 48 hours and no freezing.

I'm guessing this will be no help, but I had a similar sudden failure and it turned out I had damaged the inductor on the driver board. Have a close look and make sure visually everything looks okay. If you have another display you can test that to tell you if the driver is still working.

Yeah I can't see anything. It's been fixed and running in the frame for over a week. I've probably had to press the reset button 20 times on the hat though, the last few days it ran the longest before this happened.

I don't see a like button for the project logs so just popping in to say thanks for posting images of the internals. I'm interested to see if the cooling will completely eliminate your hard freezes.
I still can't get over how good the images look on this panel!

Well spoke too soon. It appears the screen is now dead. The Pi is still talking to the controller but I can't get any activity on the screen. Tried the manufacturers PC utility program and it also connects to the hat and sends an image but nada on the display. :(
