Had a strange vision of a fabric sleave to stuff all the bits in. It eliminates the hinge problem & reduces the weight.  The battery & computer go in 1 pocket.  The keyboard goes in a 2nd pocket.  The monitor goes in a 3rd pocket.  The 3 pockets fold into a book or a zig zag.  They could be joined at a common seam.  They could use zipper pockets & cutouts for air cooling.

Sailcloth is a common material for this type of enclosure.  This one has velcro, a handle, & places for a strap.  There's no cushioning.
