A harder problem than you think.  They have to be upright to keep the wax off everything.  The caps have to be loose, so they have to be held on by gravity.  The bottom needs to not trap water, so the bottom needs to be open.  There needs to be a spare stick so when 1 runs out, there isn't an immediate need to find a new one.
