After building a ton of remote controls for various project I decided to build a universal RC Unit which can "speak" to all the different modules used for communication. At least the most common ones.
I thought it would be cool to make it resemble a console's controller.
It features:
2.8" LCD, 320x240 with Touch screen
2x Analog Sticks
10 digital switches grouped in 2 D-PADS
4 programmable GP digital switches
several programmable GP_LEDs
2 microcontrollers (M328p and XMEGA128A3u)
micro SD Card slot

Infrared TX capabilities
Bluetooth SPP (Class 2)
WiFi
LongRange communication (RFM22b - 868MHz)

Fully integrated IMU onboard (10 DOF - BNO055 sensor)
2800mAh Li Ion Battery with charging circuitry onboard

I started to work on this idea. I made some sketches and then I began drawing the schematic. For this project I will use two boards, one sitting on top of the other, with the battery placed between them.

July 31st, 2021

I finished the Hardware and uploaded the second part of the series.

I'll be start working on the software soon.
