Quaddle is Petoi's newest OpenCat robot: a powerhouse of multi-core processors and peripherals packed into a palm-sized frame for ultimate hacking and tinkering.

It's a tinkerlab inside a desk robot dog. World's first 4-servo omnidirectional robot dog, too — most quadrupeds run 12+ Degrees of Freedom; Quaddle gets real agility out of 4, which forces genuinely different gait-design and leg-coordination work, and is what keeps the whole platform affordable enough to actually take apart and mod, not just admire.
What's inside:
- Two ESP32-S3 chips — a motion core, and a separate AI core with a physical privacy-cutoff switch
- Position-feedback servos — what makes Puppet Mode possible: hand-guide the legs through a motion and it's recorded and replayable, no code required
- An optional Raspberry Pi Zero that can mount on top and take over as the brain
- An optional AI vision module
- A full programming path — block coding, Python, MicroPython, Arduino C++ — on the same open OpenCat firmware this project already documents
Three tiers on the same platform:
- Builder — walks and codes in block coding/Python/C++
- Buddy — adds an AI core plus Learn & Replay
- Scout — the sensing tier: humans, sound, light, distance, and gesture detection built in, with the AI vision module as an add-on if you want more
Two videos below cover all of it — the first is the full hardware build, the second is everything else:
Video 1: Assembly demo (hardware) — raw parts to walking, screw-free body with 4 screws for the legs, no soldering, under 20 minutes, then the ecosystem: Raspberry Pi Zero, Arduino sensors, AI vision module.
Video 2: Intro/overview (everything else) — simulating and teaching Quaddle by hand, coding it your way, the 3-leg challenge, water/gravity stunts, new ways to move, and sensors, AI vision, and smart home control.
It's live on Kickstarter now, and hit its $50K funding goal within 2 days. Today(9/10 Pacific Time) is the last day for Super Early Bird pricing:
- Builder — $99
- Buddy — $139
- Scout — $179
Prices go up after today.
