Biosphere Solar is developing an open-source, modular and circular solar panel. This is a photovoltaic panel that can be recycled at high value, repaired, and upgraded. The current solar industry is far from being as sustainable as it can be; from the design of solar panels, to the transgression of human rights in the upstream supply chain, it's clear that moving away from the linear, business-as-usual method is crucial.
To turn our dream into a reality, we are working with a core team of individuals iterating our prototype and setting up our first demonstrator project. We are also growing what we aim to be our global community of innovators and hackers, working with us to bring disruptive change to the solar industry. For this, documentation of our solar panel is currently underway. We have done fundamental research and market research, and are currently in the phase of having our product market-ready so that we can begin scaling up and taking our project to the next level.

Final Thesis - step-by-step guide on PV Panel development.docx
Here is the Master thesis which provides background to the challenges of an open-source, modular and circular solar panel, as well as step-by-step instructions on the development of the second prototype of the Biosphere Solar panel we are developing.
With a pilot project beginning May 04th 2022 where we will be installing our very first modules, we are working on optimising the development of our prototypes. So far, we've come accross a few challenges (images to be shared later), including:
