Finding a good quality retro joystick these days is all but impossible, so I built one with an off the shelf (purchased complete) microswitch joystick + button and a bunch of PLA and a 3D printer. I have an illness that means dropping stuff, so wanted to have something robust.
Used an internal plug board to find the correct wiring, and a high quality 9 pin connector with some twisted pair cabling. All very self explanatory. Will make the STL files available. Message if you want the files..
It’s actually quite a comfortable joystick to use, the raised fire button lets you curl a finger around it to hold the joystick.
