The idea for this build is simple- make a portable Raspberry Pi-based computer that is rugged, simple, and good looking. There are no 3D printed parts, instead I use Send Cut Send for laser cutting and powder coating the two aluminum parts. The parts including paint from SendCutSend was $60 shipped in the US, so it's a pretty reasonable cost.
I also had a Sixfab Raspberry Pi UPS “hat” laying around, so this build includes a battery too.
The pins for the Raspberry Pi are also exposed on the back, so if you have a low profile board there’s a tiny bit more room. I also have pre-set holes on the front that you can enlarge for things like SMA radio adapters, etc.
