The bottom plate was the problem area.  After many years, the standing water down there formed a lot of algae & caused the PLA to disintegrate.  There was am idea to glue on an opposing stand below it, but lions eventually started letting the tub fill while taking showers, in order to save hot water.  A floor stand would have to be really top heavy.  

Future ideas headed towards a pocket hanging from a handle or a floor to ceiling pole.
