This is a quick project page for my 1st antweight build for Adelaide Robot Combat event. The weight limit is 150g and no weapons. This is gonna be a modular wedge/fork 2 wheel drive robot. It will be able to drive inverted and using simple electronics. The mechanical parts will be 3D printed since its in the sportsman class.
Since the last log, I managed to CAD and 3D print a test chassis and test out the electronics circuit with it. It seems to be running quite well. The only challenge is the front movement. It probably is my faulty input or needs some tuning itself. After that I designed the CAD for my actual bot and the removeable wedges. I also plan to use CNC to make wooden forks as an option too. I now need to get it 3D printed and prepared for the next month's competition.
So I managed to solder some of the electronics up and did some initial run tests. Thankfully, the Malinki was already setup with the mixing so I could quickly attach wheels and put the electronics on wood piece and run the whole thing. The electronics worked perfectly, although seemed a bit underpowered from the 5V supply. The next steps for me are to check the electronics against ARC's rules and get a 2S Lipo battery. Also I need to start CADding up the body since the competition is gonna be on 17th and I want the bot to be atleast 60-70% done before I book my tickets to Adelaide!
A very simple sketch for the robot was made with features listed out. Also a plan for building was also made. The first technical area to be tackled will be electronics. I already have the electronics. Just need to wire things up, program them and test them out.
