This project is a work in progress, see logs for details.

This device is a mini UPS with a 1500mAh LiFePo4 cell and a power LED. I gave myself the challenge of designing the circuit with only an MCP6004 quad OPA as its brain, with some supporting MOSFETs, diodes, and passive components.

The circuit features:
0.5A LED driver (adjustable)
Pulsing/blinking charge indicator LED (adjustable)
LiFePo4 charge circuit (200mA charge current, adjustable)
Over discharge- and over voltage protection
Blackout detection

I made a simplified, interactive demo version of the my single op-amp battery charge control circuit on Falstad:
The outputs can be used to control a charging circuit, looking at it like a truth table:
A B System Status Example Input Voltage Range
T T Charging 2.7V to 3.6V
T F Under Voltage 0 to 2.7V
F T Overvoltage Triggers when Input > 3.6V, resets when Input drops below 3.4V
