Making it "truly" mobile
08/21/2014 at 01:05 • 0 commentsAfter getting a taste of what and how amazing remote monitoring our son's blood sugar was... we wanted to extend this to 24/7 coverage, from anywhere he may be.
A tool like this enables a child with diabetes the ability to: play without unnecessary interruption, learn without unnecessary interruption, stay healthier!
As parents, we found we were able to go on "dates" again, and let both of our children play freely without "helicopter" parents.
We reverse engineered the protocol to pull the data from the Dexcom Receiver in realtime, and upload that data to a cloud based solution.
We found a "fly box" made a sturdy case to transport and store the system, which now used a simple Android smartphone & app to publish his blood glucose data for our view... from anywhere we had internet access!

Retrospective - Where it began
08/21/2014 at 00:56 • 0 commentsFebruary 2013 - After receiving the Dexcom G4 to monitor my 4 year old son's Blood Glucose at 5 minute intervals,
we soon found we wanted to see this data ALL THE TIME.
I used the supplied "ReceiverCommercialAPI.dll" to create a simple Windows application to upload to a google spreadsheet.
A simple iOS app presented this view.
