Every Halloween, I count the trick-or-treaters who visit our house. I used to count by hand and graph the numbers in Excel. In 2023 I automated it, and it has grown into a live website.

How it works

- I press a button on a handheld remote each time a group of trick-or-treaters arrives.
- A small radio board (Adafruit Feather M0 with RFM69 radio) sends the press to my laptop.
- A Python program on the laptop counts the presses and sends the total to an online dashboard every minute.
- When the night ends, the program saves the data and makes graphs.
- The live website reads the same data, so you can see the count update as it happens.
