Here is a quick explanation video regarding how it works:
Sorry if it goes a little fast. When I originally made this for my science fair there was a 2 minute limit on the videos. Feel free to pause whenever to take a look at the diagrams.
I have lots of ideas for where this can go like:
- Integrate headset electronics inside frame
- Use less bulkier components for a more light weight and sleek design
- Add a secondary camera for possible stereo depth estimation (less intensive)
- Integrate headset technology into a hat
- Use object recognition in tandem with depth estimation
- Use a dedicated tilt compensated compass board (main obstacle is cost)
- Design a custom PCB to integrate electronics more easily together
- Add vibrational cues to indicate other obstacles: crosswalk, stairs, ledges, etc.
- Have onboard route calculation system to avoid using internet all together
If anyone has any suggestions for where this project can go, please let me know.
