ThomasRelease v2.2.8 on the TG9541/STM8EF on GitHub now has "official" support for the CN2596-2 DCDC converter as a Programmable Power Supply, and the instructions in this Hackaday project provide a (hopefully complete) step-by step guide.
In any case, if you need help, or if anything should be clarified, please let me know. I'm curious if anybody dares to invest $1.60 in this hack ;-)
