The first problem we encountered while making our object was to reproduce the controller in 3D on fusion 360. We had not found any 3D model for this controller, but we needed a 3D model to have the right measurements and respect all the problems that we could have faced when putting our object on the controller, indeed the joystick had a telephone support on the top, we decided to release it and remove it, it had bumps on the top we had to make a support high enough to avoid bumps, So to form the 3D controller we used photos that we took with the measurements (because during the making of our object we did not have the controller available, Diego logically needed to have fun with it).
then we had to build the system, with a system that is nested with the joystick and above a system of batons, which flip/roll, by pressing the stick that protrudes from the right side the system rolls and lowers to the other side to apply a press on the corresponding button. Building the base was not very hard, but building the batons was another story, we were faced with several dead ends, from the very precise calculation of the tilt of the bar, the height, the length, overlap problems... and then fix these problems was more complicated theorically than concretely especially since fusion 360 is not so easy to use. we spent a lot of time trying to solve these problems, moreover, even if it should not impact the progress of our project, we had partials that were getting closer and closer, All these complications have not finished making our project, we are very disappointed especially that we will not be able to present anything to Diego, we who wanted to please him with an applied project, we did not complete our project.
So, Diego comes during a session and we presente our project to him, him seems not to be satisfied about our idea so I ask him why, and we explain to him that what we show him is only the cardboard model and that the final project will be more better, but he explain to us that he don't have a ps5 and so he is not very interessted about our project. We had found our ps5 controller 3D model, we had begun our Fusion 360 project, but there is no logic in creating a project that not interest the client, so we must found a new idea. We asked Diego what kind of consol he have, he told us that he have a Nintendo Switch but that he can play with it without help, but he have a drone controller and on top of this one there are some keys that he can't reach in the same time that he controlle the drone so we took our chance and we decided to creat a help systeme for this problem, we had 4 week to do it and in the same time we had our exams but we wanted to finish what we started.
So we started looking for a solution, so we looked online for an innovation that was already created to inspire us, even though we already had an idea of what our project would look like, Diego has all his fingers on his right hand, so we wanted to focus the whole system on the right side. We found an innovation for an Xbox controller and a project in the creation room and both had the same system we thought so we were reassured about our idea and we started drawing a sketch and we created our cardboard copy
We chose this project because we wanted to create a tool that would really please Diego, an object that he can use in everyday life and make him happy. We saw that everyone was moving towards the solution of the fork or laces, projects not very complicated to realize but we did not want to be satisfied with that, we learned that Diego had difficulty using his controller, knowing that at his age (and even at our age, LMAO) we like to play games we thought it was a wonderful idea to create a system that will help him to play video games with more ease. The professor told us that our project was not bad, however he warned us that it was going to be very hard to achieve, we wanted to challenge ourselves and provide something qualitative to Diego so we still started this project.
