History is an exceptionally difficult thing to parse... How much of it belongs to the victors? How much to the intellectually-elite-enough to even be able to write it, as well as socially-elite-enough to be taken seriously?
What If...
What if you were thrown in the middle of a colluseum with someone else and both told: "Whoever walks out of here alive will receive $100,000"?
What if $100,000 isn't enough to buy a house in your town, but not far away it is?
What if an additional $100,000 was enough to buy a house even closer to town, and large enough for two families? Would you try to "Win" that first round, then return for a second?
Would you assume your "captors" to be amongst the cruelest? Would you presume your "opponent" to be an enemy?
What if they said the highest score of all the matches this month would get an additional $100,000? Would you aim for a 10?

Or maybe you'd realize early-on that $200,000 is enough for two families? Maybe the two of you could just spend some quality-time together, having some fun...

How many generations would it take before anyone realized all they had to do was to cooperate to *both* benefit? Tremendously? AND to make a HUGE statement to a society caught-up in imaginary death-matches of their own...?
