[Julien Andreae] is a passionate about racing cars and precision-mechanics. For more than ten years, he has been spending his time building from zero a serious racing car.
His original idea: Re-using a motorbike engine (Honda VF 750f) and building everything necessary to transform it into a real Formule-like racing car. At the time, he needed to think about an electro-mechanical system that could let him control the gearbox with a user friendly palette+buttons on the steering wheel. In addition, he wanted to be able to drive its racing car manually, semi-automatically or totally automatically:
Manual: foot-controlled clutch, Gear-up and Gear-down with palettes.
Semi-auto: automatic clutch, Gear-up and Gear-down with palettes.
Auto: automatic clutch, automatic Gear-up based on engine speed, Gear-down with palette.
[JA] asked me to help him by building a Control Unit. A few months later, we decided to add to the project a Power Unit aimed at controlling the gearbox.
